Naenae Post Office

Our team took great pride in transforming and re-purposing the old Naenae Post Office into a local community centre. As a result, the Naenae community can now enjoy a modern facility, purpose designed with a range of spaces and facilities. The result, a high-quality local hub, to host and support a wide range of community activities.

Our construction work included: earthquake strengthening and refurbishment, underpinning the original clock tower, new structural steel roof strengthening, asbestos removal, full internal demolition, full internal build of meeting rooms, activity spaces, kitchens and bathrooms. All built at scale for a community space, situated in Hilary Court, Naenae.

The scope of the refurbishment was quite extensive, as the original building was built in 1959 by the Ministry of Works. It had been closed as a local Post Office since 2015.

An original tile artwork was reproduced and replicated by Guy Ngan and now features as a mural using acoustic panels in the co-working space.

Throughout the building refurbishment many items were protected, restored and reinstated, including the aluminium window joinery and timber doors.
