About Us

Duncan Rawson is a family-owned Wellington construction business, led by the Duncan and Rawson families: Scott and Lucy Duncan, and Blair and Kate Rawson. Quality, care and strong relationships are at the heart of what we do.

Our story

Duncan Rawson brings together the Duncan and Rawson families, with Scott and Lucy Duncan, and Blair and Kate Rawson, at the helm.

The business began in 2017 as Duncan Commercial Construction, founded by Scott and Lucy and focused primarily on commercial construction. When Blair joined in 2019, his experience and passion for residential construction opened up a new direction for the business.

What followed was a natural evolution from a commercial construction specialist into a well-rounded construction company, with the experience to take on everything from commercial and civil projects to architecturally designed homes and heritage restoration.

Today, the four owners lead the business together, bringing a personal, hands-on approach to a company with the capability to meet Wellington’s diverse building demands.

Our values

Thoughtful Guidance

We take the time to think things through, offering practical advice from the get-go. This means fewer surprises, clearer decision-making, and a build that feels well managed and under control; without budget blowouts.

Lifting the Bar

We’re always improving how we work, refining our systems and raising the standard of every project we deliver. All adding up to smoother project programmes and stronger outcomes for you.

Reliable Results

We do what we say we’ll do, from day one to sign-off. With early involvement in the planning stages and steady hands through every milestone, you’ll finish your project feeling confident and excited. Not burnt out.

Integrity in Action

Doing things right guides every decision we make. We respect our clients, our team and our community, and build with long-term relationships in mind.

Building Wellington's future while preserving its past

We’re passionate about restoring heritage buildings and bringing them back to life.

For us, it’s about understanding what makes a building significant and finding thoughtful solutions to complex challenges without compromising its character or function.

Scott’s interest in heritage restoration was sparked while working as Project Manager on the seismic strengthening and restoration of Lower Hutt Town Hall. Working alongside the client, consultants and project team, he saw first-hand the value of collaboration, creative thinking and not simply taking the easiest option.

That experience continues to shape how we work today. We want to be part of a team with a shared goal: achieving the right outcome for our client and the building, so these important places can continue to be used and enjoyed by future generations.

Our award-winning heritage restorations are testament to our dedication. Because the best restoration projects don’t just protect the past. They give buildings purpose for generations to come.
